Eclipse is an extensible tool for building integrated development environments (IDEs) for various kinds of applications, such as programs on several languages, websites etc.
Thanks to a grant from IBM, IME/USP created a laboratory for training, development, and research with Eclipse. This project involves both the training on Eclipse as a development tool and research about the tool itself, its features for the development of new IDEs, user interfaces, etc.
Projects under development
- IDE for the PROLOG language
- Visual Syntactic Analyser
- Didactic Interface for a Programming Tutor System
- IDE for the Python/Jython language
- Maven-Eclipse Integration
Some other Eclipse projects have been suggested; everyone is welcome to take them.
Introductory texts about Eclipse
- A set of introductory slides about Eclipse (in Portuguese), addressing its basic structure. These slides may serve as an introduction to the development of extensions for Eclipse, and were based on the whitepaper about Eclipse available for the main Eclipse website.
- The slides from a course on the use of Eclipse in a free software environment (in Portuguese). This course was offered both to IME students and to the community at large, and is most likely going to be offered again.
