Scalability, Reliability and Security for E-Business in the INTERSTAGE Application Server Abstract -------- Despite the significant challenges posed by the introduction of new e-commerce initiatives, the promise of customer and revenue growth, together with productivity improvements and cost savings, continues to drive the implementation of e-business systems. One key ingredient is the middleware infrastructure used to support the application environment. INTERSTAGE Application Server is an advanced application execution platform that uses the latest Internet software technologies and standards, like J2EE, CORBA and SOAP. To ensure a non-stop service, INTERSTAGE Application Server integrates OLTP functions built by Fujitsu, based on its long history of building mission-critical systems. It incorporates advanced technologies, such as hot-standby and dynamic application swapping, in order to create systems that operate at extremely high levels of reliability and availability. This presentation aims to show possible architectures of such environments, explaining how INTERSTAGE is able to provide these requirements when running entreprise applications, both in J2EE or CORBA architectures. Topologies of distributed objects, multi-server, non-centralized administration, distributed transactions will be shown and discussed.
