The InteGrade project plans to create a grid computing system which uses idle machines available through some kind of network: it could be a high-speed LAN or the Internet, for example. In the project, we perceive the utility of a mobile agents environment. These mobile agents could be used for the encapsulation of long tasks that would hardly finish in the availabe idle time of a single machine. The mobile agent capacity of halting its execution, saving its state, dispatching itself to another node and starting to execute again is very interesting, since it could allow these tasks to finish their execution, making use of idle resources of many computers. In this seminar, we will indroduce the InteGrade Project, explain better the motivation of mobile agents in the project and introduce Aglets: A Java system for programming mobile agents. Aglets was developed by IBM and nowadays it is maintained by many people in a open source initiative.
