Middleware 2003 invites applications for student volunteers

Student volunteers profile

Up to 20 positions are offered for computer science students with a good knowledge of English and Portuguese who would like to help by providing some technical support for the Middleware2003 conference.

Duties will include:

  • providing technical assistance for the workshops, tutorials and main conference sessions,

  • helping at the registration desk, mail-room, demonstration area, refreshments area and other conference sites,

  • arranging, re-arranging and de-arranging conference facilities.

Volunteers must be available to assist with at least one of the two days of the workshops and tutorials sessions, and at least half the time of the main conference.

Successful applicants will be offered

For the basic category of application (bronze category):

  • free coffee breaks and free admission to the main conference

  • admission to tutorial / workshop, based on previous confirmation,

and eventually an additional:

  • U$100.00 (volunteers applying for the silver category) or

  • U$200.00 (volunteers applying for the gold category)

Important dates

The deadline for application is April 10, 2003.

All applicants will receive information about acceptance by May 10, 2003.

How to apply and selection criteria

Applicants must send a short CV (about 2 pages) by e-mail to B. Schulze
specifying the application category.

CV should include a letter of recommendation from a faculty member and
about two paragraphs describing the student´s ongoing research activities.

Selection will be made among submissions matching the above criteria.
